NIDA'S Community-Based Outreach Model includes two interrelated components designed to facilitate behavior change amoung at-risk drug users.  These include (1) community-based outreach and (2) two sessions of education and risk-reduction counseling that are organized around testing for HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV), and hepatitis C Visrus (HCV), to provide pre- and post-test counseling to ehlp drug users learn their serostatus and the behavior changes needed to reduce transmission risks. SISTA is Sisters informing sisters about topics on AIDS.  The SISTA Project is social skills training for African-American women aimed at reducing HIV sexual risk behavior.  It consists of five two-hour sessions delivered by skilled peer facilitators in a community based setting.  The sessions are gender relevant and culturally sensitive and include behavioral skills practice, group discussions, lectures, role-play, a prevention video and take-home exercises.  For further information about SISTA on the web at:  www.effectiveinterventions.org

Women's Voices Women's Lives: Erotic Safer Sex is to empower women to learn to make positive choices to protect themselves, their health and their future.  The prevention education and skills building program is based on a documentary of four African American women living with HIV.  The documentary tells stories of their life choices and situation that led to their contracting HIV.  In addition to the video, pre & post test surveys WCAC,Inc implemented the "erotic safer sex component" consisting of lively discussions, erotic safer sex strategies, ice breakers, roles plays and games to use with partners.


HIV/AIDS & other sexually transmitted infections workshops will assist participants to understand HIV/AIDS and other transmitted infections.  Some objectives are; understanding the immune system and its function, to learn and understand HIV/AIDS, to learn of other transmitted infections and treatments.


Relapse Prevention workshop is geared for participants that want to learn positive coping mechanisms to deal with addiction.  Some objectives is to learn to identify trigger leading to relapse, and maintenance of sobriety and to learn how to ask for help.

Sistah Powah is a collaborative effort between Boston College, Connell School of Nursing and WCAC, Inc. whose mission is in alliance with WCAC, Inc. specifically offering services from a social justice perspective. The collaboration actualizes a peer-led, community-based approach to prevention and uses the film Women?s Voices Women?s Lives© as a focal point to help women feel comfortable in discussing HIV/AIDS issues in a group setting. 

Anger Management is designed to assist women deal with anger in healthier ways and to accept anger as normal and appropriate.  

Stress Management - most individuals ignore their bodies, warning signals that mean they are being overtaxed by stress.  The first step in overcoming stress is simply to be aware of it.
